Bucharest 2008, CARGO
I wanted to get to know one person better in the course of a week’s stay (Cargo workshop) in Bucharest. I chose Zanga, the youngest Romanian artist. We spent two intensive days together. I simply followed his common life.
Just before the opening of the exhibition we both wrote a text about each other. We wrote the texts in the same room, but in our native languages. So, neither of us could understand the text of the other one. At the opening we asked the visitors to interpret the texts for us. At that moment, from a stranger’s mouth, I learned about what Zanga thinks of me and he learnt something about himself. The participants at the opening had to ask someone for the translation, too, which we used to provoke a communication line to interconnect the Czech-Romanian exhibition.
